Employment Award Survey

A recent decision by the Fair Work Commission (FWC) has highlighted the need to clarify the application of modern awards coverage for employees working in Gymnastics Australia Affiliated Clubs. More specifically the FWC’s decision suggests that the Fitness Industry Award 2010 (FIA) may apply to the majority of gymnastics Clubs. The effect of this is that gymnastics Clubs would be required to adhere to all provisions of the FIA including provisions dealing with hours of work, minimum pay rates based on qualifications and related matters.

In order to achieve greater clarity in the minimum employment obligations applicable to its members, GA intends to make a submission to the FWC to have the FIA modified to better reflect the manner in which work is performed by employees in gymnastics Clubs and the accreditation and qualification framework that has been established by GA.

To assist in this process, we are seeking feedback via a short survey. Survey answers will remain confidential and will not be used for any other purpose other than to assist with gaining further information to support GA's submission to the FWC.

As this survey is specifically related to staff employment conditions within a Club, knowledge and understanding of this area is required to complete the survey. If you do not believe you are the most appropriate person to complete this survey please direct an appropriate colleague to this page.
