Australia’s Men’s Artistic Gymnastics team at Austrian Future Cup

In a narrow miss for fourth, Australia’s Men’s Artistic Gymnastics team has placed fifth in the team competition at the Austrian Future Cup.

The Australian team performed amongst the 21 teams, one of only two teams who travelled from outside of Europe to compete.

The Australian team included Cameron Malone (Manly Warringah Gymnastics Club NSW), Gabriel O’Sullivan (Northern Districts Gymnastic Club WA), Joshua Di Nucci (High Flyers Trampoline and Gymnastics Academy WA) and Jackson Clarke (Lawnton Academy of Artistic Gymnastics & Gymnastics QLD High Performance Centre), along with coach Igor Bespalov (High Flyers Trampoline and Gymnastics Academy WA).

The team were hosted by the Linz team and trained alongside them at the Gymnastics Centre in Upper Austria (OOFT) in the week prior to the event.

Australia finished fifth in the team competition with strong results on the Rings and Vault, where they placed third.

O’Sullivan placed ninth in the individual under 18 division with a final score of 75.05 and finished third on the Pommel Horse.

Malone placed equal 12th in the All Around competition with a final score of 73.85.

Di Nucci also placed 12th in the under 16 division of the All Around competition with an overall score of 70.2, and finished first on Vault.

Clarke placed 16th with a score of 68.7.
