MAG Team Future Camp - February, 2016


Over the weekend of February 26 to 29 a Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) Team Future camp was held at the AIS.

Every Team Future camp is designed to provide both a training environment for coaches and athletes to learn and improve, and also non-technical sessions to broaden the range of skills our coaches have. This camp we had the following development opportunities:

The camp overlapped with selection trials for the Olympic Test event in Rio and Pac Rim. The intense competition and outstanding routines inspired coaches and athletes alike.
Development sessions were held on how to effectively communicate and use video in coaching, an ASADA information session, and a wrap-up of the Mental Skills project conduced last year by Crystal Yeo.

Physical profile is an essential part of high performance development, as such the following athletes and programs were recognised:

3rd – Josh Walker – Grips Gymnastics, VIC

* profile tests are different for U12 and U14, awards for U11 and U13 winners were for the best placed U11/U13 in their testing criteria

The next camp will be held from October 21 to 24 at the AIS. Invitations for this camp will be based on IDEAL testing using the Virtual Assessment Tool.
