WAG Team Future Camp Wrap-Up

Following Nationals in Melbourne 100 athletes and 30 coaches converged on the Australian Institute of Sport for the biennial Team Future Camp.

This was the first camp run by Dhana Antulov (Team Future Coach) and Alexis Lebedew (National Pathways Coordinator), freeing up Jo Richards to be a Master Coach at a Team Future Camp for the first time. Peggy Liddick, Stacey Umeh and Liz Chetkovich rounded out the coaching staff.

The camp started with a presentation by AIS Skill Acquisition Specialist, Dan Greenwood, on the keys to effective communication in coaching, where coaches were challenged to think differently about how and what they do when working with their athletes.

The camp concluded with athlete awards for their performances in physical testing. The champions for the camp were:
9 year old – Charlotte Chin – Waverley Gymnastics Centre
10 year old – Tannisen Elkins – National Centre of Excellence, Melbourne
11 year old – Matilda Brougham – National Centre of Excellence, Melbourne
12 year old – Jasmine Weeks – Sydney West Gymnastics – also OVERALL Champion
13 year old – Hayley Prince – Sydney West Gymnastics

The next camp will be in November – information can be found on the GA Website in the Talent Pathways section.
