Elected Director and President

Ben Heap joined the Gymnastics Australia Board in 2018.

Mr Heap is currently a non-executive director of a number of public and private companies and a member of the Commonwealth Government’s Fintech Advisory Group, appointed by and an advisor to the Federal Treasurer. He is also a founding partner and the executive chairman of H2 Ventures, a venture capital investment firm focused on innovation and technology-enabled disruption in fields including fintech, data and artificial intelligence. 

Mr Heap was formerly the managing director of UBS Global Asset Management in Australia & New Zealand. He was chairman of the Responsible Entity Compliance Committee of UBS Global Asset Management and a director of the UBS Foundation. During his tenure at UBS, he was also a non-executive director of the Financial Services Council Limited, the peak representative body of the retail financial services industry, and co-chair of the global markets committee of the FSC.

Mr Heap is a devoted father of five and believes passionately in the importance of sport for the well being of all young Australians. He has a personal association with gymnastics with his daughter recently competing at her second FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group Competition.

Mr Heap shares the Board’s vision of enriching lives through gymnastics and is passionate about the promotion, development and growth of gymnastics for the enjoyment of all, and furthermore, to ensure that Australia’s elite gymnasts have the support required to compete successfully on the international stage.
