Russell D'Costa



Director (High Performance)

Russell is an accomplished Chair and Non-Executive Director with 15+ years’ experience in sport management spanning grass-roots through to high performance, working for peak sporting bodies in South Australia, Australia and the UK. He is currently responsible for managing the Centre for Cancer Biology, a world class Medical Research Institute boasting the largest concentration of cancer research in South Australia, hosting 22 laboratories and 150+ researchers.

Russell is an experienced Non-Executive Director, having served multiple terms on the Gymnastics South Australia Board, including the role of President and Chair, and various other boards within the not-for-profit sector. His Director and corporate governance experience is supported by qualification as a Company Director through the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and an MBA from the University of Adelaide.

Russell brings to the Board, significant experience in Gymnastics, including representing Australia as both an athlete and coach within the National Levels stream and representing South Australia as a national level judge.

Russell brings High Performance experience and knowledge to the Board through his previous role as Program Manager at the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) where he was responsible for managing the Institute’s programs across 20 sports and 200+ athletes, through the Beijing, London and Rio Olympic cycles. Russell’s role included managing the SASI Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Program which produced multiple Commonwealth Games gold medals, and the SASI/GA National Trampoline Program which produced multiple Olympians.
