Affiliation Benefits - Insurance

Gymnastics Australia offers access to the National Risk Protection Programme (NRPP) which provides a set of insurance policies for different membership categories at a nationally negotiated rate.

The coverage provided under the Program comprises:

  • general liability;

  • management liability; and

  • personal accident

The range of insurances offered through the NRPP applies to gymnastics members as follows:

  • Participant = Personal Accident

  • Technical Member = Personal Accident / Professional Indemnity

  • Club Member (opt-in) = Management Liability / Public Liability

Technical Member insurance is provided on a rolling 12-month basis aligned with the member’s renewal date.

Participant and Club insurance is provided on a calendar year basis in line with the club affiliation year.

The dates of the underlying insurance premiums may not exactly align with these membership periods. The national insurance policies renew annually on 1 November. GA will always ensure that an appropriate underlying insurance policy is in place to support members who have purchased insurance with their membership.

Insurance Certificate of Currency

Sportscover Australia is the General Liability (Public Liability / Professional Indemnity), Personal Accident and Club Management Liability Insurer for clubs who opt into the NRPP in their annual affiliation.

For clubs who opt-in to the program, they will require two separate Certificates of Currency in each calendar year:

  • The first Certificate of Currency will be issued via the Marsh Insurance website upon completion of their affiliation for the year. This Certificate of Currency will be valid from the club’s join date through to 1 November, in accordance with the underlying certificate.
  • The second of Certificate of Currency will be issued via the Marsh Insurance website from 1 November and will be valid to 31 March the following year. GA will contact all clubs who have opted into the National Insurance scheme via email later in 2022 to advise when your Club can access this.
To download your  Certificate of Currency (CoC) after your Club has affiliated, please visit the Marsh website.  Please note you will require your Club’s ID number. You will also be required to complete an Education Module prior to downloading the CoC.

Travel Insurance for members

Note: Travel Insurance information must be read in conjunction with GA's current Position Statement regarding Domestic and International Travel, available here . The Position Statement also explain the limitations of the current insurance cover in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Whilst GA's current Programme covers members for Personal Accident Insurance in Australia, access to Travel Insurance will provide cover for a range of risks that may otherwise be limited when competing in international events. Three of these are listed below:
  1. Medical Expenses;

  2. Luggage and Personal Effects; and

  3. Missed Transport Connections

One of the most significant benefits associated with GA’s Travel Insurance Policy is that it covers 'Participation' in gymnastics. Many other travel policies strictly exclude sports participation; therefore, if you were injured whilst participating in a gymnastics event overseas, you may be unable to claim on your travel insurance. With participation included, the GA Travel Policy is better suited to a gymnastics tour. This is a substantial and unique benefit for affiliated clubs who have previously struggled to find appropriate and comparable insurance when travelling.

It is important that clubs understand the process for placement of Travel Insurance as it is outlined as follows:

  1. Download the Tour Endorsement and Travel Insurance Application Form* (as below);

  2. Complete all relevant details as requested

  3. Submit the Form to GA (decision of endorsement may take up to two (2) weeks);

Upon endorsement:

  1. GA will provide a quote directly to the individual/club/State Association Member for Travel Insurance;

  2. Club confirms quote and placement of cover and pays premium prior to travel

* All Applications for Travel Insurance must first be endorsed by GA. All Clubs/State applicants should also note GA's Club-Program Tour Guidelines, as provided below.

Please note: Before entering into an insurance contract with a general insurer, please ensure you are aware of the policy wordings, terms and conditions.
