Changes for 2017
- The Advanced Silver Accreditation will no longer be for IL Judges. International Levels (IL) Judge Accreditations will be removed from the current Framework – (current Advanced Silver Accreditation). In 2017 a judge who completes the IL Judge Module will have an activity and TECHIST listed on their iMis record.
- FIG, Advanced Silver and Advanced Accreditations will expire on 31/12/2016.
- The Advanced Silver Accreditation will be awarded to all judges who successfully complete the GA Advanced Silver course. This course is scheduled to be run 9-12 March 2017 at the AIS. This course is for participants who were unsuccessful in their application to attend the International FIG course and for Advanced Judges (upon application and who meet the selection criteria) and coaches working with HP athletes. This course will be a replica of the FIG course and will be delivered by GA.
- Any judge who is unsuccessful at the GA Advanced Silver Course will remain at Advanced with an expiry date of 31/12/2020.
- All judges who hold a current FIG accreditation will be given an Intermediate Accreditation as of 01/01/17 with an expiry date of 31/12/20. This means that the judge will have a current accreditation regardless of attendance at a FIG course so eligible to judge at competitions.
- A current Advanced Silver Judge who has previously completed an Intermediate or Advanced Judge Accreditation will be given an Intermediate Accreditation as of 01/01/17 with an expiry date of 31/12/20. This means that the judge will have a current accreditation and are therefore eligible to judge at competitions.
- A judge who successfully completes the Intercontinental, International or Australian Advanced Silver Course will have the expiry date on their accreditation changed to 31/12/20.

Upskilling for International Levels (2017-2024)
- Changes to International Levels will take place in 2017. The launch will occur in October with the roll out of the 2017-2024 IL Compulsories. These are information sessions to learn about the philosophy of IL and the choreography within the routines.
- It is recommended that the following attend the workshops.
- All judges who currently judge or wish to judge IL gymnasts
- All FIG and potential FIG judges
- Coaches who work in the IL space
- Attendance at these workshops will not provide a judge with an accreditation; however it is an essential component in gaining the accreditation. In order to gain the IL accreditation, the judge will also be required to complete assessment. Information regarding assessment is provided below.
WAG International Levels Judging Modules
The International Levels Judging Modules are comprised of 3 parts. These are outlined in the diagram below.
Eligibility to attend the IL Judging Modules
The eligibility of judges to attend the IL Judging Modules is outlined below:
- FIG judge is automatically eligible to attend
- A 2017 Advanced Silver judge is automatically eligible to attend
- Advanced Judge is eligible to attend upon application:
- Judge to complete application form and submit to State/Territory Association
- State/Territory Judging Coordinator and SMC to endorse application and submit to GA Judging Coordinator
- GA Judging Coordinator to assess application and accept attendance at IL Judging Modules
Fast tracking into the IL Judging Modules
Select Individuals may be fast tracked to complete the IL Judging Modules without completing the standard WAG Judge Pathway. This is upon application.
- e.g. Retired high level athletes (preferably Level 9/10 or Junior International gymnasts and above); Advanced Silver coaches or Advanced coaches working with IL gymnasts.
- Individuals who are fast tracked must work in conjunction with an identified judging mentor approved by GA Judging Coordinator (e.g. FIG/Advanced Silver Judge who has completed the IL modules) to become knowledgeable on the FIG Code of Points and its practical applications, prior to attending the IL modules.
- Upon completion of the application form the National WAG Judging Coordinator will work with the National Coach to establish a suitable mentor
- They can do the IL Module and judge within the State/Territory but must complete a Judging accreditation at some stage to judge at National events.
Women’s Artistic Judging Pathway
All Women’s Artistic judges will follow the pathway below. In most instances a judge will move from one accreditation to the next. Only under special circumstances can a judge miss an accreditation level.
Judges for International Levels (IL) will need to complete additional training. The IL workshop will be offered by Gymnastics Australia as and when required. A judge can move from National Levels to judge International Levels. This is not appropriate for all judges and progression to judge International Levels will be on application. Identified individuals such as former gymnasts can be fast tracked in conjunction with a mentor to complete the IL Accreditation without completing the standard WAG Judge Pathway.
The table gives an overview of what will be covered in the course. For example, a Beginner Judge will learn how to accurately judge the skills for levels 1-2 of the Australian Levels Program (ALP).
