2019 GymSport Awards - Acrobatic Gymnastics

Gymnastics Australia has announced the winners of the 2019 GymSport Awards - Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Congratulations to all winners.

International Senior Gymnast of the Year – Maddison Lacey, Caitlin O-Neil and Mikayla Carr
Maddison, Caitlin and Mikayla started their successful year by competing in the Exception Senior Women’s Group category at Australian Championships, putting together an incredible performance and placing first overall. As a result, the trio were selected for the Australian National Squad. Their strong performances continued throughout the year with the trio placing first in all their competitions. 

Congratulations Maddison, Caitlin and Mikayla for being named the 2019 recipient of the Acrobatic International Senior Gymnast of the Year Award.

International Junior Gymnast of the Year – Kathy Le, Emily Massara and Daniela Gurmesvic 
As members of the Victorian state team, Kathy, Emily and Daniela placed first overall at the 2019 Australian Gymnastics Championships in the Junior 12-18 age division. They also took home the gold medal for their Dynamic routine and finished in the silver medal position for their combined routine. 

Congratulations Kathy, Emily and Daniela for being named the 2019 recipient of the Acrobatic International Junior Gymnast of the Year Award.

International Coach of the Year – Stephen Santo 
Stephen made incredible contributions to Acrobatic Gymnastics in 2019. As a senior coach and director at Team Adrenaline in Victoria, Stephen is an incredibly valuable member of the State team, coaching several National Squad Team members in international competitions to wonderful results.

Congratulations Stephen for being named the 2019 recipient of the Acrobatic International Coach of the Year Award.

Australian Levels Gymnast of the Year – Jorja Rogers, Shaeli Hall and Annabelle Gibson 
Competing in the Level 8 Women’s category at the Australian Gymnastics Championships, Jorja, Shaeli and Annabelle in a strong field. The Trio secured the gold medal in Balance, Dynamic, Combined and Overall. They also continued their incredible performances, improving in all areas of their scores at a State level. 

Congratulations Jorja, Shaeli and Annabelle for being named the 2019 recipient of the Acrobatic Australian Levels Gymnast of the Year Award.

Australian Levels Coach of the Year – Shelby Lacey 
Demonstrating her coaching abilities in 2019, Shelby had 5 of the 7 groups on the State team receive podium finishes, 3 of the 5 finished on top of the podium receiving gold medals overall at the Australian Championships. As head coach for Oak Flats Albion Park Gymnastics and Acrobatics, Shelby was also an active coach on the NSW High Performance squad taking part in State Coaching Activities. 

Congratulations Shelby being named the 2019 recipient of the Acrobatic Australian Levels Coach of the Year Award.

Judging Official of the Year – Michelle Mason
With over 20 years involvement in the sport, Michelle has played an incredible role as a judge within the Acrobatic Gymnastics community. Holding a FIG accreditation, Michelle took part in the Australian Championships in 2019 and judged several activities at both a state and national level. She played an active role in the development of new judging course in the State and has dedicated her time to mentor and lead new judges.
