Special Recognition Award

Special Recognition Awards may be given by the GA Board to a person who has given positive service to Gymnastics Australia in a nominated area. A nominee should have undertaken a project and/or task on behalf of Gymnastics Australia which has resulted in a positive contribution to the sport.

Jo Penny TAS 2016 Her position of Team Manager for Trampoline Gymnastics in Australia  helped significant development of national teams for over 10 years.
Mark Moncur TAS 2016 GTAS Board member for 11 years, recognised by key partners of Gymnastics Australia as a pioneer in the one management model space
Andrew Cordery SA 2017 MAG Technical Commission member for 4 years, as well as being a coach, and a FIG Judge
Trent Lawrie QLD 2017 As a volunteer went above and beyond to ensure the successful completion of the MAG ALP in 2018
Alex Hunt NSW 2017 As a volunteer went above and beyond to ensure the successful completion of the MAG ALP in 2018
Wendy Braybon* VIC 2019 2002 to 2017 she was the Head Physiotherapist for the Australian Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
Ben Cork NSW 2020 Ben has made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the FreeG program, which is an increasingly popular program within Gymnastics For All (GfA).
Bernadette (Bernie) Spedding NSW 2020 Bernie is recognised for her contribution to the development of TeamGym, one of the key programs in Gymnastics For All (GfA).
Gene Schembri ACT 2020 Gene is recognised as a pioneer for our sport, introducing initiatives to help ‘fireproof’ coaches against liability issues and to raise coaching standards. Gene also wrote the ground-breaking book "Introductory to Gymnastics". 
 Michelle Mason  NSW  2021 Michelle an integral role in the creation and the successful implementation of the 2020-2023 Acrobatics Australian Levels Program.
