Anti-Doping

Gymnastics Australia is committed to educating athletes, parents, coaches and support staff about the risks associated with the use of prohibited substances and doping methods in sport.

Sport Integrity Australia is responsible for coordinating Australia's anti-doping program which helps protect your rights to compete on a level playing field free from banned doping practices. It is imperative that all athletes understand their anti-doping responsibilities and the sample collection methods and process used by SIA and other anti-doping organisations . Any gymnast who is attending a National competition or training camp may be subject to being drug tested.

Prohibited Substances & Methods

A full list of prohibited substances and methods can be found on the SIA website - https://www.sportintegrity.gov.au/. Alternatively you can contact the ASADA hotline on 13 000 27232 or seek clarification from your sports doctor.

Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE)

A Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) is an exemption that allows an athlete to use, for therapeutic purposes only, an otherwise prohibited substance or method (of administering a substance) which may be present during competition. Where an athlete is required by their doctor to take a substance which is listed as a prohibited substance, they must first seek a Therapeutic Use Exemption from the Australian Sport Drug Medical Advisory Committee (ASDMAC). TUE applications must be submitted to ASDMAC and may take up to 30 days to process.
